Alastair Norris was a Financial Sector Specialist with the World Bank Group's Crisis and Disaster Risk Financing team. Having completed his 3-year ETC with the World Bank, Alastair is now providing consultancy services to the Insurance Development Forum (IDF) to continue supporting developing countries build their resilience to climate and disaster events.
Whilst at the World Bank, Alastair predominantly worked with governments and international organizations, supporting countries to build greater financial resilience to protect those most vulnerable to disasters. His projects focused mostly in South and Southeast Asia.
Prior to working at the World Bank, Alastair gained development experience working in Nepal following the 2015 Gorkha Earthquake and prior to this worked as a senior consultant in the Solutions Practice at Risk Management Solutions (RMS), where he worked with public and private clients across the insurance and resilience sectors. Alastair holds a Master’s Degree in Civil and Architectural Engineering from the University of Bath.
