Asmita Tiwari

Asmita Tiwari is a Lead Climate Change Specialist in the World Bank. She has successfully led many projects and technical assistance programs on climate resilience, flood risk management, modernization of Hydromet services and early warning and response systems, post disaster recovery and urban development across countries in Sub Saharan Africa, Middle East and North Africa, and South Asia regions. She has led multiple regional and multi-country interventions such as the Horn of Africa drought response and Africa Resilient Cities initiatives. Prior to joining the Bank, she worked in the US Federal Emergency Management Agency’s National Flood Insurance Program, UNICEF’s regional drought mitigation program in India, and private engineering and urban development consulting firms in the United States and India. She has PhD in Public Administration and Policy, Master’s in urban and Regional Planning, and Bachelors in Architecture.
