Ms. Astrid Manroth is the Head at the Global Infrastructure Facility (GIF) since September 2023, a G20 global collaboration platform that integrates efforts to boost private investment in sustainable, quality infrastructure projects in developing countries and emerging markets. She leverages 25 years of experience in development finance and sustainable investments across public and private sectors, with a focus on infrastructure and climate finance, including public-private partnerships and blended finance. One highlight of GIF Funding is the India Tamil Nadu Shelter Fund (TNSF), an innovative Indian housing finance initiative structured by World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and the Government of Tamil Nadu, that enable cross-subsidization where returns from commercial and high-income development offset lower returns from affordable housing attracting private investors.
Her tenure at the World Bank from 2003 to 2014 involved leading infrastructure sector strategies and financing complex energy projects in Africa, Europe, Central Asia, and Latin America and the Caribbean. She held key positions at the African Development Bank and in the private sector, including roles at Deutsche Bank Asset Management and Shell Renewable Energy Services, demonstrating her deep expertise and leadership in the field. Ms. Astrid's expertise in blended finance and climate resilience extends globally, making her a recognized leader in the field.
