Previously Benedikt worked in the World Bank’s Disaster Risk Finance and Insurance Program, housed in the Finance, Competitiveness, and Innovation Global Practice. He supported over 20 countries to more actively manage the potential losses from climate and disaster shocks and coordinated this work across Southeast Asia. This included close collaboration with the Government of the Philippines in the design and implementation of their Financial Protection Strategy, public asset insurance in Indonesia, and the setting up of the World Bank’s first contingent line of credit to protect against disasters in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. He was also closely involved in the design and creation of multiple global initiatives, including the Global Risk Financing Facility and G7-V20 Global Shield against Climate Risks.
Before that, Benedikt worked at the World Bank’s Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR) on strategy, program development, and policy partnerships.
