Daniel Sullivan is the Director Risk and Resilience in the City of Cape Town where he is responsible for facilitating the development of the City’s resilience approach – covering anticipatory planning, climate change adaptation, risk management and business continuity. Over the past 10 years he has fulfilled several key strategic roles in the City, most recently as the manager of the Strategic Policy Branch. Where his role was to ensure that policy and strategy is developed in-line with the City’s strategic objectives, particularly in relation to resilience, infrastructure delivery and economic growth. Further to this, Daniel has provided surge capacity to the City in co-ordinating and supporting the planning and implementation of key business continuity activities and responses to the COVID pandemic and the City’s water crisis – and is currently co-ordinating the City’s programmatic response to the ongoing challenges of Loadshedding, Heat and Flooding.
