Senior Gender-based Violence and Social Development Specialist
Diana J. Arango is a Senior Gender-based Violence and Social Development Specialist at the World Bank Group, where she focuses on Latin America and the Caribbean. Diana has served as the primary focal point for Gender-based Violence within the World Bank's Gender Group. With over a decade of experience in development issues, she specializes in addressing gender-based violence in humanitarian settings. Before her tenure at the World Bank, Diana was a Research Scientist at George Washington University's Global Women's Institute, leading impactful research on violence against women and girls in conflict settings. She previously held the position of Global Coordinator for the development and implementation of the Gender-Based Violence Information Management System (GBVIMS). This innovative inter-agency initiative helps humanitarian workers collect and utilize timely data on GBV incidents to shape effective programmatic interventions. Diana holds an MSc in Anthropology and Development from the London School of Economics and has extensive field experience in countries including Colombia, Haiti, Chad, Somalia, Uganda, and South Sudan.
