Currently serving as Director of the UN Women’s Japan Office, Ms. Fumiko Fukuoka has been active in global environment security as well as conflict recovery/ prevention in the Arab Region for over 20 years through serving in various positions, including Deputy Resident Representative in Syria, Senior Technical Advisor in Policy Bureau’s Global Environment Financing, and Senior Advisor for Arab Regional Bureau’s Partnerships and Communications at United Nations Development Programme. Prior to the UN, she served as Japan Representative of Conservation International (a Washington DC-based international NGO).
