Transport Specialist and Infrastructure Climate Lead, West & Central Africa RegionGuillermo brings over a decade of global engineering and advisory experience in a wide range of infrastructure projects. He currently leads multimillion operational financing and analytical transport infrastructure projects in Western Africa mainstreaming disaster and climate resilience and mobilizing private sector participation for investments, while strengthening the institutional capacity of client countries as well as their fiscal and regulatory frameworks. His current portfolio is focused in the Sahel region, notably in Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso where is working in multisectorial projects focused on regional corridors, rural logistics, agriculture and socioeconomic development. Previously, Guillermo worked for the Public Private Infrastructure Advisory Facility in the World Bank and a Infrastructure Climate expert and WSP as Senior Tecnical Principal in Multi-Hazard Resilience. He obtained his M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois and his Diploma in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra in Santiago, Dominican Republic. He has received numerous awards and recognitions, including the 2019 Engineering News Record – NY Top 20 under 40, the 2019 Top LGBTQ+ Business Leaders under 40, and the 2018 ASCE New Faces of Civil Engineering awards.
