Jana Birner works as an Associate Partnership officer in the Office of the Special Advisor on Climate Action at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Geneva. In her role, she supports engagement with research partners and facilitated the development of a Regional Climate Adaptation strategy for the IGAD region and the inter-agency Sahel Predictive Analytics project. Prior to her current tasks, she worked as a project manager for a German NGO, focusing on encouraging participatory climate action. Additionally, she was a Member of the Advisory Council on Climate Change for the City of Göttingen in Germany and co-founded an NGO dedicated to promoting education for sustainable development. Jana holds a Master of Science in Sustainable Development and a Bachelor of Science in Biology.
