Mr. Kenneth Kerr is the Science and Technology Officer of the Caribbean Meteorological Organization Headquarters (CMO HQ) in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, and the Chair of the World Meteorological Organization Regional Association IV Services Committee. Prior to this, Mr Kerr spent 11 years as an operational meteorologist at the National Meteorological Service of Trinidad and Tobago, followed by 10 years as a Climatologist and Chief Climatologist.
For most of his career, he has been an expert in the operational delivery of weather and climate forecasts, and early warnings services at the national and regional levels to assist in the decision-making process in the context of adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and management of related risks. From a policy perspective, Mr Kerr was Trinidad and Tobago Principal Delegate to IPCC for 10 years, up to 2022.
As Science and Technology Officer at the CMO HQ, Mr Kerr has accountability for promotion and development of the technical and scientific aspects and for providing technical and scientific support to the activities of the National Meteorological and Hydrological Services of 16 CMO Member countries, as well as liaising with regional and international technical and scientific bodies in areas of interest to the CMO.
Mr Kerr has a first degree in Meteorology and Computer Science from the University of the West Indies, Barbados, and a postgraduate degree in Applied Meteorology and Climate with Management from the University of Reading, United Kingdom.
