Kevin Misenheimer has over twenty years of experience building preparedness for disasters across a diverse set of organizations in the U.S. and around the world. As a consultant to the World Bank’s Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR), Kevin provides technical support to the Emergency Preparedness and Response (EP&R) global program. In this role, he supports the GFDRR team and Task Team Leads (TTLs) to implement EP&R activities with global clients. Kevin authored the EP&R program’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Design and Management guidance documents and has supported EP&R assessments in numerous countries. Kevin has served as a senior emergency manager in several U.S. government organizations including the Department of the Interior, Department of State and U.S. Forest Service. He has developed contingency plans, led international training programs on the Incident Command System, EOCs and other topics, as well as designed and delivered numerous simulation exercises. Kevin has been certified by the International Association of Emergency Managers as a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) and earned his Master Exercise Practitioner (MEP) certification through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Kevin has been active in disaster response operations, both through participation on Incident Management Teams and working in EOCs, including FEMA’s National Response Coordination Center. He deployed as a field officer to Nepal in support of the U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) response to the 2015 earthquake and worked on water and sanitation related issues in Sri Lanka during the Indian Ocean Tsunami relief effort. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering and a Masters degree in engineering management.
