Dr Laura Burgin is an applied science manager with 17 years of experience in the research and translation of weather and climate science into services. Her current fundamental research is on changes to extreme rainfall, and producing innovative communication formats to aid user engagement and understanding. She has extensive experience of working collaboratively with different institutions and stakeholders, particularly in Southern Africa and the South Pacific, to aid mainstreaming of climate information into services and planning. She currently leads the climate science activities in WISER Asia Pacific which aims to improve the resilience and response preparedness of people disproportionately impacted by extreme weather and climate change through the use of weather and climate information services.
