Malaki Iakopo is the Assistant Chief Executive Officer of the Water Resources Division (Samoa Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment). Malaki has been in the public service since 2003, with experiences in marine ecosystem and species conservation, as well as integrated water management. Malaki is the incumbent chairman for the Pacific Hydrology Panel under the Pacific Meteorological Council, and is Samoa’s Hydrological Adviser to the World Meteorological Organisation. Malaki has been supporting the implementation of the World Bank funded, Pacific Resilience Program (PREP) in Samoa, which has contributed to the development of a comprehensive governance framework for Multi Hazard Early Warning System, and building of resilient infrastruture in the country. Malaki holds a BSc majoring in Ecology and Environmental Conservation from Lincoln University, NZ; and is currently pursuing a Masters in Integrated Water Management at the Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia.
