Engineer Hydrologist, Odessa State Environmental University (1973); PhD Fluid Mechanics, Kyiv National University (1983). Since May 1986, he was responsible for development and implementation of Decision Support System on radioactive contamination in rivers affected by Chornobyl accident. Developed by his team set of numerical models were applied in many of the projects of watershed hydrology, river and marine hydraulics for risk assessment of natural and man-made hazards and regional climate changes. As a Professor of Fukushima University (2013-2023), he performed research on radionuclide transport in rivers contaminated after the Fukushima-Daiichi accident. Since 24.02.2022 he is participating in number of projects of environmental impact of war in Ukraine. The developed models were used in World Bank project executed in 2023 by Fukushima University on risk assessment of dam break flooding in Nigeria.
