Menglu Qin is a research specialist at the International Centre for Water Hazard and Risk Management (ICHARM) under UNESCO. She earned her Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Tokyo in 2020. Her research focuses on sediment transport processes, river morphology, and flood and sediment hazards. Currently, Dr. Qin is developing a basin-scale rainfall and sediment runoff model to predict multi-composited sediment-related hazards in watersheds triggered by extreme rainfall events. Her work provides insights into the interactions and transformations among landslides, debris flows, and sediment-inundated floods within a watershed, enhancing our understanding of water-related hazards under climate change.
