Naoya Katayama is manager of the Hydraulic Laboratory in the River Department of Pacific Consultants and a specialist in hydraulic model experiments.
Before joining Pacific Consultants in 2001, he holded bachelor and master's degrees in civil engineering from Ritsumeikan University, Japan. After four years of planning and design work as a dam and sabo engineer, he moved to Pacific Consultants Tsukuba Research Centre in 2005 to work on hydraulic model experiments of river, sabo and dam facilities. He received a professional engineer license in Japan in 2013, and has been manager of the hydraulic experimentation department, overseeing all hydraulic model experimentation work since 2020.
