Dr. Natalia Romero is a Disaster Risk Management Specialist co-leading the Resilient Infrastructure Thematic Area at the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR), World Bank. With over 14 years of experience applying her engineering and systems analysis knowledge to energy, transport, water, and health, Natalia specializes in risk-informed decision-making for infrastructure systems. Natalia holds a M.S. and Ph.D. in civil engineering from Cornell University, focused on risk-informed maintenance planning for water supply systems and investment planning for electric power systems to mitigate the impacts of extreme events, respectively. Natalia has experience supporting projects in Africa, Central Asia, Europe, and North and South America.
