Rashmin Gunasekera is a Senior Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Specialist at the WB/GFDRR and co-leads Thematic areas on Disaster Risk Analytics and Disaster Risk Financing & Resilience at GFDRR. He has worked on many innovative analytical and operation projects at the WB. He was also the Task Team Leader of the World Bank’s Multi Donor Trust Fund Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility (CCRIF SPC) project. He has over 20 years of work experience extending to the public sector, re/insurance industry and academia. Prior to joining the World Bank in 2012, Rashmin was a Divisional Director of a global reinsurance intermediary and a coordinator of the Willis Research Network, the world’s largest collaboration between public science and the financial sector. His PhD is in earthquake seismology and he holds an honorary lectureship at University College London.
