Shingo Nagamatsu

Shingo Nagamatsu is a professor of risk and disaster economics at the faculty of Societal Safety Sciences at Kansai University in Japan. His research concern is disaster resilience and public policy. He was awarded a technical prize from the Institute of Social Safety Science for his active engagement of Cash for Work (CFW) program since 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and during the COVID 19 pandemic. His recent publications include ‘Disaster Resilience Scale for individuals: A fundamental requirement for a disaster-resilient society’ In International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction, 2024 (with A. Matsukawa, Rika Ohtsuka, and Haruo Hayashi), ‘Return Migration and Decontamination After the 2011 Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant Disaster,’ in Risk Analysis, 2019 (with A. Rose and J. Eyer). He has also been appointed as the managing director of Disaster Resilience Research Division at National Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED) since 2019.
