Stuart is a Senior Disaster Risk Management consultant at the World Bank. Stuart has worked internationally in climate and disaster risk assessment in the insurance industry and in the development sector since 2005. He works across disaster risk financing and insurance (DRFI) and disaster risk management. Recent projects have included designing and coordinating risk assessments for the European Union, Central Asia region, nine countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and in the Pacific. A major part of Stuart’s works involves improving access to open risk information and risk analytics capability development, through the design and build of open-source tools and standards including the Risk Data Library Standard and in the Oasis loss modelling community. Stuart holds an MSc in Geophysical Hazards from University College London and a PhD in Emergency Management from Massey University, New Zealand.
