Taichi Furuhashi is an outstanding Mapbox Ambassador dedicated to mapping, fostering community connections through maps, and sharing knowledge to empower individuals. Following the devastating earthquake and tsunami in East Japan in 2011, efforts have been underway to build a more resilient society utilizing mapping, panorama/VR, and drone technology. Taichi, a professor at Aoyama Gakuin University and President of CrisisMappers Japan, NPO, has initiated the DRONEBIRD project aimed at disaster crisis response using drones. Amidst the 2020 Corona Pandemic, the Japanese government has shifted focus towards Digital Transformation, developing 3D spatial ID technology for urban digital twins and utilizing drones for various purposes. Taichi has played key roles as chairperson and study committee member in expert panels overseeing these initiatives.
