Temily Baker is the programme manager for the Trust Fund for Tsunami Disaster and Climate Preparedness, a unique regional multi-donor funding mechanism administered by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), fostering cooperation to strengthen shared early warning systems. Before joining ESCAP, Ms. Baker dedicated seven years coordinating humanitarian response and recovery efforts across ten Pacific countries within the UN system and non-governmental organisations. Her experience also includes participatory research to strengthen engineering practices, improving accessibility of information technology services, and policy guidance in Australia. Ms. Baker has a Master’s Degree specializing in Humanitarian Action from the Australian National University, complemented by an Honors degree in Civil Engineering degree and Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from the University of Western Australia. As a key author of the flagship ‘Asia-Pacific Disaster Report’ and the recent ‘Compendium of Multi-Hazard Early Warning Cooperation,’ launched at the G20 Working Group on Disaster Risk Reduction, she continues to make significant contributions to the field.
