Teresito is the Director of Phivolcs, the Gov of Philippines organization responsible for monitoring, scientific research, and warnings for earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Teresito graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Geology from the University of the Philippines in 1995. He earned a Diplôme d’études Approfondies in 1999 and his Diplôme de Docteur (Ph.D.) in Geology in 2003 from the Universite de Paris VI (Université Pierre et Marie Curie) in Paris, France. He started his career with the Institute in 1997 as Science Research Specialist I and later became DOST Associate Scientist detailed in PHIVOLCS in 2005. In 2021, he held the position as Deputy Director of the Institute.
