Tesse is a dedicated technical advisor specializing in disaster risk management at the nexus of climate and conflict. With an academic background, including medicine, water and climate science, she bring a multi-disciplinary perspective to her work. In her role, Tesse has contributed significantly to integrating climate risk considerations into operations at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), focussing on climate-smart humanitarian operations using climate information across timescales. Her research focuses on compound and cascading risks, as well as the intersection of climate-related hazards with conflict dynamics. Tesse has supported ICRC, IFRC and National Societies, and partner organizations such as IWMI and the World Bank with applied research on the intersection between climate and conflict. She also co-leads the working group on multi-risk integration in anticipatory action under the Anticipation Hub.
