Yuichi Ono received a Ph.D. in Geography from Kent State University in Ohio. He is specialized in climatology, wind-related disaster risk reduction, and international disaster risk reduction policy making. He worked for three UN organizations, including the WMO in Geneva, the UNISDR in Geneva and Bonn, and ESCAP in Bangkok. He currently serves as Deputy Director of the International Research Institute of Disaster Science at Tohoku University. He is a founder and CEO of the World Bosai Forum Foundation.
