This discussion was a deep dive with partners and clients to jointly explore growth opportunities for resilience risk pools. All participants were invited to actively participate and contribute to an informal discussion and exchange. The discussion was an open call for all participants to voice their ideas on how regional risk pools can most effectively advance financial protection. This informal and interactive session provided an opportunity for regional risk pools to work closely with a wide group of clients and partners to explore critical future growth areas and jointly identify new products and potential bottlenecks. The discussion included important insights on questions how risk pools can best contribute to the high level climate finance architecture, including to the emerging Loss & Damage funding arrangements as well as NDCs and NAPs. Improved ways to collaborate between risk pools collectively and private sector counterparts were also discussed. The conversation also shared operational examples and progress. For example, on the insurance of critical public services. CCRIF has expanded insurance coverage for electricity utilities and PCRIC has recently issued an innovative policy to insure underwater cables. Likewise, SEADRIF has been requested by member countries to look into insurance solutions for public assets.
Senior management and board members of regional risk pools met with participants and engaged in smaller group conversations. The participants included both current partners and potential future partners of the risk pools. The conversation was a valuable opportunity for a frank exchange and develop the groundwork for further engagement to advance collaboration.
