What about Geohazards? Building a Global Community for Hazard and Risk Assessment
Geohazards such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis and landslides represent a significant proportion of the global disaster risk. This session will bring together the World Community of Geological Surveys, the Global Earthquake Models (GEM) Foundation and prospective partners to propose a globally coordinated network for geohazards hazard and risk assessment capability. The emphasis will be on improving access to information and expertise, and the development of collaborations to improve capacity in developing countries. A complimentary technical session (ID:228) will present the state of practice and identify needs for improvement.
